Dear Parents and Students,
Ministry in Motion originated in 1998 as a dance program desiring to offer classes to children of all ages that would encourage the expression of their unique gifts. Each child that enters the program is respected for their creativity and expression and is guided to explore the freedoms that can be experienced through the world of dance.
Music is chosen from a variety of artists, many contemporary Christian and used in combinations to instruct the girls in various dance techniques. The use of ribbons, scarves, hoops and the parachute are integrated into the program to allow the children to expand their experience and co-ordinate movement with various apparatus. Movement stories focusing on character development and Christian values help students learn valuable life lessons in a creative way. Dance technique is based on the CDTA syllabus.
The winter session will run for 6 weeks beginning January 14th and will end February 18th with a recital on February 25th.
Classes will be held in our studio at Valley View Alliance Church, 800 Davis Drive. Class instructors are indicated on the schedule. The studio is well equipped with a wood dance floor and a dance barre.

The founder of Ministry in Motion, Jennifer James has been instructing dance for more than 20 years to competitive skaters, gymnasts and students at various dance schools and in the municipality. Her training includes experiences since the age of 7 at various dance schools and other professional institutions including the National Ballet of Canada and Ballet Jorgen. Jennifer is a certified member of the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association, and her instruction is based on her passion for ministering to youth, personal training and technique within the CDTA syllabus. She looks forward to returning to the class this year and appreciates the diversity of students that she has the privilege of teaching.

DANCE 1 – this class is a combination of ballet technique, jazz combinations and the use of hoops, ribbons and scarves for musical creativity and fun
DANCE 2 – building on the basics of Dance 1 this class develops the more mature dancer with more advanced contemporary dance steps and combinations
DANCE 3 – bring your energy and love of dance to work on ballet, jazz and modern technique and learn some more advanced combinations and dances

Dance 1 pink leotard, pink tights, pink soft soled gymnastics slippers or ballet shoes
Dance 2 black leotard, pink tights, pink soft soled gymnastics slippers or ballet shoes
Dance 3 black leotard, black tights, shorts or dance pants, black soft soled gymnastics slippers
Tap tap shoes (available at Payless) or non-marking dress shoes with a small heel
